FATAL BOXING BOUT
DEATH OF GEORGE MENDIES. Received May 6, 9.40 p.m. SYDNEY, May 6. George Mendies succumbed to injuries received during a fight with Harry Gordon. [At the Stadium on Saturday evening Gordon knocked out Mendies in the fifteenth round after a thrilling, even contest. Mendies was sent to hospital suffering from a broken nose and concussion.]
