EARTH SHOCKS

TAURANGA, May 5. Two slight earthquake shocks were experienced here this morning. Colonel Ward, who has a recording instrument, reports that the first tremor was at 4.29, and a much more definite series of oscillations three minutes after. They showed movement along a line roughly joining Wanganui and Tauranga, the indications being almost as strong as the most forcible of the Taupo series two years ago, and the general direction leads to the suspicion that the origin is in the same neighbourhood.
