AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES. "LAWFUL LARCENY.” The principal attraction at the Opera House to-night is "Lawful Larceny/’ The title seems contradictory, but there are many things that the law does not cover and one of these is to steal a woman’s husband and her happiness. This, as Viv Hepburn says, is lawful larceny and it would be sard to find a more capable bunch of players than the principals of this Allan Dwan production. In addition to the big names of the cast and the director to ba featured there is the unusual appeal of the story, and these, with the perfect settings, the great story, and excellent photography, place this feature in a class of distinctive merit. Three of the most popular forms of exhibition dancing are shown in “Lawful Larceny,” by three of Broadway’s favourite dancers. Gilda Gray is to be seen in the cabaret scenes of the picture in her South-sea dance which has made her famous. In the prologue of the picture Florence O’ Denisshawn interpret s an ancient Egyptian dance as a colourful background for Nita Naldi, who is shown in a Cleopatra tableau. Alice Maison and her partner present modern ball-room and eccentric dancing.
