THE COLLINGWOOD TRAGEDY
MELBOURNE, March 27. The police are finding great difficulty in ascertaining the facts concerning the Collingwood tragedy, as most of those who were present are in a muddled condition and unable to give a coherent account of their movements. The majority of them stated that they were confirmed methylated spirit drinkers. Workmen from a factory on the opposite side of the' river informed the police that they saw a man dragging a woman to the bank, but their view was obstructed by trees. One of their number ran to a party who were crossing the bridge and told them a woman was being thrown into the river, but no notice was taken of him.
