CROQUET
WANGANUI CLUB The Wanganui Croquet Club were favoured with glorious weather for the return match with the Waverley Club yesterday afternoon. On their arrival the visiting ladies were entertained at lunch by the local club. During the afternoon a very dainty tea was provided by the honorary members under the supervision of the Mayoress, Mrs Hope Gibbons, and Mrs Hatrick. Owing to several of the Waverley team having to leave by the train some of the games were not finished. When play ceased the score stood: Waverley 169 points, Wanganui 176 points. DOUBLES. Mrs Cowling and Mrs Muir 16 v. Mrs Blennerhasset and Miss Burgess 9; Mrs Matheson and Miss Cleary 18 v. Mrs Fulton and Mrs Blyth 26; Miss Cheyne and Mrs Bralmore 26 v. Mrs Bassett-Smith and Mrs Lawrie 10. SINGLES. Mrs Cowling 26 v. Mrs Blennerhasset 24; Mrs Muir 26 v. Miss Burgess 23; Mrs Matheson 7 v. Mrs Fulton 26; Miss Cleary 9 v. Mrs Blyth 26; Miss Cheyne 15 v.
