THE GREEK REPUBLIC
TEXT OF CHAMBER’S RESOLUTIONS. LONDON, March 26. The Athens correspondent of the Times Bays that Greece is now virtually a republic, and unless the forthcoming plebiscite springs a surprise the familiar title of “King of the Hellenes'* wil be relegated to history. The following iS the text of the resolutions adopted by the Chamber: Firstly, the Assembly proclaims definitely the dethronement of the Glucksburgs, deprives members of all succession rights, and forbids their sojourn in Greece. Secondly, proclaims a Greek republic, on condition tbat such decision is confirmed by the people’s plebiscite. Thirdly, authorises the forcible expropriation of properties belonging to the deposed dynasty. Fourthly, Condouriotis is to continue as Regent till the Republican constitution is framed. Cheers were given for the Republic from the crowded galleries, in Which the deputies frequently joined, and punctuated the reading of the resolution. Deafening applause greeted the result, which was the signal for the release of six doves, one of which flew straight to Papasastasiou, the new Premier, who interpreted it as a good omen for the future internal peace of Greece. The original plan was to make Condouriotis provisional Governor, but this was abandoned at the last minute, as it was realised that it would result in the interruption of relations with diplomatists accredited to him in the capacity of Regent-
The celebrations are continuing for three days.
