AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. “THE SOUL OF THE BEAST.” Did you think the circus had left the town? Then you’ll think it’s back again with banners dying when you see the big circus treat for kiddies in the Thomas H. Ince production, “The Soul of the Beast.” It is a photo-play of passion in the wilderness—a love story in which an elephant takes a hand (or is it a foot?). It is a real circus story, with a trained bear, wild lion and tigers, elephants and camels, aud all the other animals going through their acts in, the ring. “Oscar,” the elephant, does the most unusual acting' ever shown on the scroen. Madge Bellamy plays the redo of wistful little Cinderella of the circus, who adventures off into the Canadian wood's, and finds romance and adventure. Oscar, the elephant, co-stars with her, and gives a marvellous performance, warranted to keep you roaring with laughter and gasping with surprise. Every youngster from seven to seventy will get a kick out of this, the greatest screen novelty of the season. A full house welcomed this picture last night, and the season concludes to-night. LEO STERLING. Special engagement has been made of Mr Leo Sterling, “The original strolling Serenader” who is an artist of the greatest versatility and charm. Hig niusical numbers on a variety oT instruments are remarkably clever and interesting, while as a raconteur he has a fund of droll stories which make his turn deservedly popular. Book at Upton’s until 5 p.m.; then at Rialto.
