EMPIRE EXHIBITION
LACK OF ADVERTISEMENT IN AMERICA. Received Marell 27, 8.30 p.m. NEW YORK, March 26. American correspondents ot London newspapers are cabling long accounts of woeful lack ot concerted effort in the conduct of advertising campaigns in America on behalf of the British Empire Exhibition. They assert that the United States is being left alone by the Exhibition’s publicity managers, even posters not being distributed. This is a serious mistake, since it is estimated that a quarter of a million American tourists will visit Europe during the coming summer, and, with the average American knowing little or nothing of the Exhibition’s details, many will miss going to London completely. It is pointed out that the Dominions will be the greatest losers thereby, because English goods are already known in the United States, while Dominion products, which could find a vast market here, are comparatively unknown.
The Australian Press Association learns that approximately £12,000 was planned for Exhibition advertising in the United States, but this was so inadequate that the managers were advised to forego the campaign.
