LIFE SAVING COMPETITIONS AT MUNICIPAL BATHS. The Primary School competition for the Royal Life Saving Society's Shield will take place at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Municipal Baths, when three teams will take part, representing Gonville, Queen's Park and Victoria Avenue Schools respectively. It is expected that there will be a good attendance of parents and those in* terested. AT GONVILLE BATHS. On Friday morning, at 10 o’clock, the Gonville baths will be the scene of the primary schools' contest for the silver medals competition for life saving. The public are invited to attend. THE EMPSON CUP. The annual relay race between the Wanganui Central Swimming Club and the Collegiate School for the Empson Cup was held last evening. V. H. Reid (Wanganui) and E. H. Duncan (School) started, the former getting a slight advantage which he held for the length. They were followed by P. Dickson (Wanganui), and A. E Short (School) who did not alter the positions. E. Crottv (Wanganui) and D. C. D’Arcy (■School) were next and finished together. The finish was between W. Wakelin (Wanganui) and H. R. Cameron (School), the latter, after a very fine race .getting the verdict Timo 57 3-ssec.
