CHEMISTS’ CONFERENCE
(Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, March 6. The conference decided to request the Minister of Customs to remove the existing restrictions from ung gall cum op (gall and opium ointment) as has already been done in England. On the motion of Mr. Smith (Auckland) it was resolved that the Pharmacy Board and Chemists’ Defence Association be requested to carefully watch any legislation that may be introduced to deal with the sale of heroin, morphia, or cocaine, with a view to making it an offence to procure or attempt to procure them. The motion was seconded by Mr. Waters, who said that in one case trouble had been experienced in Dunedin. On the motion of Mr. Burburry, it was decided that the Press bo requested to continue the practice of omitting the names of poisons when publishing an account of suicide eases. A paper on the pharmaceutical education of medical practitioners was read by Mr. Alexander Bagley. On the motion of Mr. Burburry, it was decided that Latin be made a compulsory subject in matriculation for section A. NEXT CONFERENCE IN WANGANUI. It was decided that the next conference be held in Wanganui, the date to be fixed by the Board.
