A London cable states that the estate in England of the late Sir Waltet Devidson, late Governor of New SOutli Wales, is valued at £543.

Sir William Rodwell, Governor of Fiji, sailed for London in the Niagara on Saturday. A complimentary dinner was tendered him at Suva on Friday evening by colonists.

An interesting little ceremony took place at the "Chronicle” office on Friday afternoon, when tho staff gathered together to make a presentation to Mr. Frank Dean, the accountant, on the occasion of his marriage, which take s place to-morrow. The manager, Mr. L. C. Young, in a happy little speech, referred to the esteem in which Mr. Dean was held by the company and his fellow employees, and, on their behalf, wished him and his future wife long life and happiness On behalf of the staff, he then presented Mr. Dean with a handsome marble cloek, and, on behalf ot the company, with an afternoon tea set. The recipient having replied, the proceedings concluded with cheers. Mr David Allan, for 15 years past Dunedin manager for Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., has returned from a visit to tho company’s London branch, where, during the past year, he has been acquiring first-hand knowledge of that end of the company’s business. Mr Allan has been a director of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., since 1913, and is also a director of Abraham and Williams, Ltd., and the Trustees’ Executors’ and Agency Co., of New Zealand, Ltd. From now on ho will be stationed at the head office of Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., in Wellington, so that he may the more closely assist in the direction of their operations throughout New Zealand and elsewhere.
