, The engagement is announced of ( Miss E. Meldrum, daughter of Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., of Greymouth, to Mr T. A. Melville, of “Dunard,” Fordell. Mrs A. Gifford, Waikat<, is visiting Wanganui, and is staying at Castlecliff. The engagement is announced of Miss Doris Davidson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugh Davidson, of Feilding, to Mr Robert S. Treadwell, of Mataroa, son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Tread- " well, of Wanganui. ! < Dr. Elizabeth Gunn is at present j r , visiting her mother, Mrs -W. Gunn, Christchurch. Mrs W. H. Hall left Wanganui on Wednesday for a visit to Hawke’s Bay. Miss Winnie Swan laft Wanganui last Friday for a holiday at Nelson, where she will be the guest of Mr an! Mrs Fred Swan. Miss Burnet, St. John’s Hill, is visiting Auckland. Miss Dolcie Grigg, of Christchurch, is the guest of her parents, Rev. and Mrs W. Grigg. Mrs Barstow returned this week from a trip to Auckland. Mr and Mrs Latham are spending a holiday at Hawke’s Bay. Miss Ward, of Wellington, is visiting Mrs (Dr.) Robertson. Miss M. Jones is visiting Auckland. Mr and Mrs Innes-Jones, St. John’s Hill, returned to their home last Friday from a holiday on the East Coast. Mrs T. C. Taylor, Wicksteed Street, returned last Friday from an extended visit to Great Britain and the Continent. Mrs J. Solomon (Wellington), and her children, are visiting Wanganui, and are staying with Mrs Solomon’s parents, Mr and Mrs J. H. Kecsing, Wanganui East. Mrs Guy Williams, of Masterton, the ex-New Zealand lady golf champion, who has been on an extended visit to England, returned by the R.M.S. Niagara to Auckland, accompanied by her mother, Mrs Hope Lewis, She left for the south by the Main Trunk express on Monday with Mr Guy Williams, who had come north to meet her. Mrs Hope £ewis remained . in Auckland for the marriage of Miss t Hope Egeitvn, which took place on . Tuesday. Mr and Airs Van Stavern, of Auckland. have been visiting Van Stavern ’s parents, Mr and Mrs J. H. Kcesing, \\ anganui East.
