Wanganui residents are indeed to be congratulated upon the rapid progress oi‘ the city in recent years, and the many line buildings and business Establishments testily to the city’s rapid marcii. At Drew’s, the large establishment at the coiner uf Victoria Avenue and Maria Place, is to be. found one ot the largest and best assorted stocks of jewellery and gold and silver-plate in the Dominion. The display made of diamond rings and brooches is as fine as anything to be seen in Auckland or Wellington, and embraces clusters, haithoops, and all kinds of modern fancy designs. The firm carries a large stoca. of unmounted scones, which can be made up to any design desired. Prominent amongst the unmounted gems are some exquisite pale blue sapphires and other Ceylon fancy stones. Included in the attractive dispiay are numberless articles uhicn would serve admirably as gilts. There are artistic and serviceable wristlet watches by ail the best known makers. A line which wid arouse the enthusiasm of the ladies are the dainty Parisian bead bags, in which the hand-made work is exquisitely beauti ful, and the colours biended with rare • taste. Drew’s have just landed a; big shipment of plate and silver goods, which include some choice ( quality electro plate, which Wanganui ’ householders will welcome warmly. Another big shipment to the firm’s , order has just arrived. This includes a large consignment of English clocks, and plate by the best known Sheffield manufacturers. It will also come as good news to local housewives to hear that a large consignment of stainless cutlery is being received this week from Sheffield. Drew’s have always ■pecialised in opthalmic goods, j of which they carry a Urge stock. The firm makes up doctors’ prescriptions for spectacles, and can be depended upon to supply anything and everything optical, including binoculars. Of the latter, pr'.mi I binoculars occupy prid*: of place, many fine instruments by Lemaire j and other famous French . makers j Standing out prominently. Drew’s have.earned the. goodwill of the community by their untiring efforts to supply their clients with the very best goods from the world’s . leading manufacturers, and . their; honest trading methods over more I than half a century of years in this I town. Certain it is that no jewellery I firm in New Zealand to-day oan offer ! its clients a larger or more compre- 1 hensive selection of jewellery, plate,, and fancy goods than this long- : established Wanganui firm.
