THE BROKEN HILL FIRE
SYDNEY, July 12. Attempts are being made to flood the fire area in Broken Hill mine through an old shaft. It is stated that the fire could not have broken out in a worse part of the mine, as it is heavily timbered. The timber is very dry. One mining expert considers the fire may not be extinguished for weeks or months.
