WANGANUI EAST YARDS. There was a fair yarding of sheep at the Wanganui East yards yesterday. There was also a fair number of buyers present, but the bid ding was not brisk. A nice line of wethers was sold at 31s; good pen of b.f. lambs made 21s 9d; and a line of fat ewes 275. The lollowing is the range of prices: 161 wether lambs, passed at 21s Id; 17 m.s. lambs, 16s 3d; 180 ewe lambs, 23s 8d; 136 m.s. lambs, 21s 4d: 26 b.f. lambs, 14s 4d; 51 b.f. lambs, passed at 12s; 43 b.f. lambs, 21s 9d. Ewes: 160 f.m. ewes in lamb passed at 265; 169 ewes i.w. Corriedale. 19s; 124 ewes r.w. Corriedale, 12s 6d; 111 four-year ewes, passed at 25s 6d; 56 fat ewes, 275; 11 ewes, passed at 13s: 167 ewes, r.w. Southdown, 21s Id; 29 ewes, r.w. Romney passed at 21s 6d; 52 two-tooth ewes, r.w. Romney, 21s 9d; 14 aged ewes, 17s' 6d. Wethers: 138 f. and f. wethers, 27s 6d; 46 f. and f. wethers, 31s; 18 two, four, and six-tooth wethers, 23s 6d. * Cattle: A fair entry. A farmer in the Hunterville di3j trict reckons that the area of slips on his property causal by recent rains amounts to several acres. Fortunately, no damage has been done to fences; although the roads have suffered considerably, 2nd much time has been spent in clearing them for traffic. NEWTON KING’S REPORT. Newton King reports as follows: At Kaponga on June 29 on behalf of Mr A. E. King, we had a full yarding of all classes, consisting principally of dairy cattle. Mixed weaner heifers 22s 6d; Jersey do., £5; store cows, 345; forward do.. £3; three year-old stores up to £4, boner bulls, 28s, £2 7s 6d: in the dairy pens Jersey and Jersey cross cattle attracted more attention, and these classes sold up to £l7. Quite a big proportion of dairy cows were backward culvers, but in spite of this they sold well. At Stratford on the following day on behalf of Mr G. L. Young, the cows, which were lacking in condition and backward in calving, sold mostly from £5 to £9 10s; in calf heifers sold practically at the same level. At Ma hoe on the 2nd inst., on behalf of Mrs A. Charters, a big catalogue of sundries and implements all sold exceptionally well, and the cows attracted very keen attention. Two pedigree Jersey cows realised 39 and 41 gns. respectively, the animals being purchased by Mr F. Muggeridge, and two pedigree Jersey heifer calves realised 22 J and 17 gns. respectively, both being purchased by Mr H. T. Mollow. At Leppcrton on the 2nd. inst., on behalf of Mr F. Copestake, there was a large attendance of buyers everything being keenly competed for and sold well. Horses,, which were extra good, sold from £49 to £6O, 2i-year old filly, unbroken, £2O 10s. The cows, some of which were rather backward and showing age, averaged £9; weaners sold at from £2 10s to £3 17s 6d.
