FIRE IN BROKEN HILL MINE

SYDNEY, July 11. A fire broke out in the Central Mine, Broken Hill, and was confined to the 400 ft. level, but there is every likelihood of it spreading, as the first fire-fighters were compelled to come to the surface in conse queues of the dense smoke. Ail available firemen and mine employees are attacking the flames from the 500 ft. level. FIRE STILL BURNING. Received July 11. 10.50 p.m. SYDNEY, July 11. I The Broken Hill mine fire is still turning. Firemen are fighting the limes in relays owing to gas. No Ultimate of the damage is available, nt if the outbreak is not soon eon•olled there will be severe unemoyment.
