Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report on the sales of the week as below: — At the Bulis sale on Monday, the 2nd inst., there was a small entry of sheep and cattle. There was a fair demand for sheep, hut cattle were unsaleable. Quotations : —Small lambs, Ils 3d to 13s; medium lambs. 15s 8d to 17s 2d; empty store ewes, 9s; good wether ’ambs, 225; dairy cows, £3 15s to £6 IBs. At the Ashhurst sale on Wednesday, the 4th inst., there was a very full yarding of both sheep and cattle. Jn spite of the very adverse weather conditions practically the whole yarding so d readily under the hammer. Quotations:—Medium hoggets, 15s 2d, 16s 2d to 17s 2d; good m.s hoggets, 21s 8d to 21s Jd; m.s. ewes in lamb to Romney rams. 28s lOd . m.s. lambs, in Jamb to Southdown rams, 2ls to 29s 2d; fat »ewes, 21s 9d; dairy cows, £4 10s to £9; heifers, r.w.b. £3, s\ore cows, 24s to '3ls; forwanl cows, £2 to £3 12s 6d; yearling heifers, dairy sorts, £3 3s to £3 6s; sows in pig, £4 12s 6d.
We held a sale of grade Jersey and < Jersey cross heifers on account of Mr J. Ellery on his homestead near Bulls on Thursday, the sth inst. Owing, no doubt, to the continued rough weather . a-xd the very wet state of the country there was only n, small attendance, as it is evident that dairy farmers are not nuking extensive purchases until better weather is assured. Quotations: Jersey crossbred heifers, £8 10s, £9, £9 10s. £lO, £lO 10s, to £ll ss. At the Palmerston North sale on Thursday, the sth inst., there was a good yarding submitted of both sheep and cattle. The market was slow on account of rough weather conditions. The whole entry changed hands with the exception of or.e consignment of hoggets. Quotations: —Good b.f. hoggets, 15s 6d to 18s 7d; store ewes, 1 Is

Bennett, Kauwhata, when we ofi’erud his herd of dairy cows, horses, implements, < tc. lhere was a good attendance but the bidding was dull. We quote. — Best cows, £lO 10s, £lO 15s, £l.l 10s, £l2 10s, to £l3 10s ; late calvors, £3 JOs, £5, £6, £7, to £8 15s; wearier heifers, 255, horse £2l; disc harrows, £8; piano £2O; sundries, etc., sold" at late rates. On the 3rd inst., we held a clearing sale of dairy co'-'-s and heifers on account of AJLr Johnston, Aukatere. lhere was a very small attendiii.ee, but prices lor anything with quality and young sc Id well. We- puote :—Best cows, £8 10s, £9 ss, £lO 10s, to £l3; late calv-, 1 ns, £2 15s, £3, £3 K's, £4, £4 17s Gd, to £5; springing heifers, £3 os, £6 ss, £7, to £9 2s Gd. On the 4th inst., we held a clearing sale of 70 dairy cows, horses, pigs and sundries. Despite the very boisterous day there was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was very fair right through the sale except for the cows in milk. We puote: —Best cows, £9 10s, £lO, £ll, £l2, £l2 15s, £l4, £l4 10s; others, £3 70s, £4, £5, £6 to £7 10s; Jersey bulls, £9 10s to £4 ss: horses, £6 to £2O 10s; sows to £7 ; stoie pigs, £1: porkers, 32s 6d to £2 2s; dray harness, £9 2s 6d; sundries,
etc., sold at late rates. At Palmerston North sale on the stlr inst., we had a good yarding of sheep and cattle. There was a poor enquiry for sheep and only a few pens changed hands. Dairy cattle were also hard to quit. We quote . —Fat wethers, 30s 6d, 31s 9d to 37s sd; fat ewes to 26s Id; store ewes, 15s to 17s 8d; ewes in lamb, to 27s 9d; hoggets 14s to 17s 7d; fat cows. £2 10s, £3 ss, £4 ss, to £4 10s; fat steers, £4 15s; empty cows, £l, £1 ss, 30s, to £2; dairy cows, £2, £2 17s 6d, £3, £4, £5 JOs,. to £6 15s; weaner heifers, 37s 6d, £2 3s, £3, to £3 10s. MARTON SALE. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report on their Marton sale on the 9th inst.: We yarded 3000 sheep, comprising all classes, but chiefly breeding ewes. Bidding was dull and tlie sale inclined to drag, although we quitted the bulk of the yarding. We quote: Prime fat wethers 34s 7d; fat wethers, 30s 6d; fat ewes, 23s Id; ewes r.w. S.D. rams, 2Gs Id to 31s 3d; ewes r.w.
