DOCKERS’ STRIKE

MEN URGED TO RETURN TO WORK. Received July 10, 10.40 p.m. LONDON, July 10. At a meeting, lasting five hours, the dockers’ and unofficial strike committee adopted a resolution asking union officials to negotiate with the employers for resumption of work, suggesting that the employers waive the latest shipping wages cut, seeing that Parliament itself declares the cost or living basis is wrong. It is pointed out that this interpretation of Parliament’s opinion is open to question. Earlier in the day the annual conference of the transport workers adopted a resolution urging the dockers to return to work so as to maintain organised strength to enable grievances td be dealt with unitedly.
