EXCURSION TO HAWERA
ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-DAY.
The excursion train which will con* vey children from the local schools, together with parents and friends, to Hawera to-day, in response to an invitation from the W inter Show committee, will leave at 7.30, arriving at 11. The train leaves Hawera on the return trip at 3 37, reaching Wanganui at 7. It is the intention of the Show Committee to cater well for the pupils when they reach Hawera. Arrangements are also being made for a supply of hot' tea at Pa tea on the outgoing run. and luncheon will he provided at Hawera. Children who have to get up early to catch the traN would be well advised to take a small supply of food with them to eat in the train, as these journeys at this time of the year aiv not altogether too pleasant, and most children have keen appetites, especially on a holiday excursion. For the benefit of Gonville children and parents special trams will leave th ■ Junction at 7 a m.. via Koroniiko Road ! and Alma Road, going ciirect to the railway station.
INSTRUCTIONS 10 CHILDREN. • It is requested that the following instructions be carefully observed by ail pupils:— All pupils will travel with their respective schools and must remain under control of their teachers, of which there will be at least four in charge of each carriage, from the time of their assembly before entraining until they have been dismissed at the end of the home journey. No one will stop on or off the Jain without orders from the teacher m charge. On no account will anyone attempt to board or alight from a moving train. All pupils will remain inside their carrages while travelling There must be no riding on carriage platforms, or leaning out of windows. A prefect will be placed in charge of each earn age door. His or her duty will be to se< that these instructions are carried out. and also to keep clo.sed the carriage door and the gates of the carriage platform. No one will without special permission, be permitted to step off the train at wayside stations. All children are depended on to conduct themselves in a manner that w.” reduce the difficulties of the railway officials to a minimum, and make the journey a pleasant one to all. especially to their lady friends and to elderly people Scpnratte carriages have been arranged for the boys find girls.
