'VOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to present to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the next ensuing sitting thereof a Bill to be entitled “The Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act 1923.” The object which the said Bill is intended to effect is to amend the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Act 1913 by empowering the Wanganui Harbour Board to borrow a sum of Two hundred thousand pounds (£200,009) to be applied towards the completion of the harbour works and for the purposes of paying (a) the cost and expenses incurred in connection with the borrowing of such moneys, including the cost of preparing the Special Roll and of taking the poll of the ratepayers; (b) the first year’s interest and sinking fund in respect of any moneys so borrowed; and (c) the cost of promoting the said Act; and providing for the mode and manner cf preparation of the Special Roll to be used in connection with the poll of the ratepayers; the appointment of a Returning Officer for the conduct of any poll to be taken under the said Amendment Act; the polling hours, and for the non-applicatio.i of Section 57 of the Counties Act 1920 (disqualifying eiec- ! tors for default in payment of rates) to any poll to lie taken under the said Amendment Act; for the repeal of Subsection 3 of Section 8 of the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Act i 1923, and Section 40 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act 1913. and save as otherwise provided in the said ■ Amendment Act the provisions of the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Act 1913 shall apply with respect to all moneys borrowed under *he Authority of the said Amendment Act and to every poll of ratepayers taken or ; proposed to be taken for the purpose of this Act.
