SHOPPING WEEK CARNIVAL
THE FINANCIAL WASHING UP. AUDITORS REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The Hon. Sec. for Wanganui’s Easter Carnival, Mr. A. R. Donaldson, has prepared his balance-sheet, and the auditor, Mr. R. M. Finlayson, has examined the figures and reported thereon. “The guaranteees against loss received by your executive,” says Mr. Finlayson, "totalled £2BB 8s 6d., and of this sum only £36 18s 6d. has still to be collected. Other outstanding debts due to the executive total £3O 15s. If all guarantees and debts are paid (and the accounts have been drafted on that assumption), your executive will be able to meet all the liabilities, and have for appropriation a surplus of £24 Is bd. This surplus, it will be clearly understood, has still to be realised. The accounts presented show only the leading items of income and expenditure. Mr. Donaldson will be able to give you the results of the various subsidiary enterprises into which your executive entered. I have been greatly impressed not only by the volume of work handled by your honorary secretary, but also by the manner in which it has been executed. The records are clear, accurate and complete in every particular. The good offices of Mr. Donaldson are worthy of particular note when it is remembered that for approximately three months he must have been actively and strenuously engaged on Carnival work.” The balance-sheet shows as follows:
