FRANCE’S BULWARK
POLAND AS FOCH SEES IT. PARIS, May 20. General Foch has returned from Poland and Czecho-Slovakia. He states that the Polish army has all the old-time brilliant qualities and is steadily assimilating methods of discipline. Poland is a strong bulwark. Even it Russia wanted to attack Poland, she would not be dan gerous for some years, and it would be a long time before Germany ventured to attack an ally of France. The Czecho-Slovakian army was less brilliant than Poland's, but had great technical knowledge. The Czechs were carefully watching Hungary. He did not think they were wrong. Hungary needed watching for some years, as ideas of revenge were being fomented.
