BULLS NOTES.

VALEDICTORY. A farewell afternoon was tendered to Mrs J. Danks, who is leaving Bulls, in the Clifton Hall, on Friday last. The hall was tastefully decorated with flowers supplied by Lady Wilson, and upwards of 40 ladies were present. Mrs W. Dempsey made the presentations, which took the form of a solid silver teapot, the gift of the ladies present, and a dainty hand-worked handkerchief, the gift of Miss Nancy Wilson. In making the presentations Mrs Dempsey expressed the regret of the assemblage at Mrs Dank’s departure. Mrs Danks had always taken an active part in the social functions of the town, and she would be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. Mrs H. A. Goodall also spoke on behalf of the local branch of the Plunket Society, of which Mrs Danks was one of the original members. Miss Kearney presented Miss Marjorie Danks with a handsome hair-brush. Mrs Danks feelingly replied. Musical items were supplied by Mesdames J. J. Mansell, V. Edhouse and J. H. Raymond, and by the Misses Richardson, Nicholson and Kearney. "The Rose Dance,” by Miss M. Danks, was a particularly acceptable number. Afternoon tea was then partaken of, and the gathering broke up with “For They are Jolly Good Fellows,” and “Auld Sang Syne.” The Bulls troop of Boy Scouts presented Masters Jack and Maurice Danks with handsome books.

Mrs Danks and family left for their new home in Hastings on Monday, where Mr Danks has secured a remunerative position.
