BEAUTY’S MIRROR. Even the most beautiful complexion requires a little special care to keep at its best; but the care given to it must be of an intelligent kind and must not consist merely of the use of the powderpuff. The constant use of powder is apt to clog the pores unless the coating is thoroughly removed before another is applied. Very often girls just powder their faces and rub in grime at the same time, rubbing it right into the pores without first even washing the skin and removing the soil with a good cleansing cream. Before trying any treatment for the complexion, see that the skin is thoroughly clean. That is the first step of importance. Sometimes a steam bath will remove particles that nothing else seems to touch; but this form cf cleansing should not be resorted to very often, a.s vapourising the face, though cleansing the skin beautifully, is apt to enlarge tile pores. A good toilet cream, gently rubbed in after washing, is beneficial, and when all superfluity has been wiped off, the application of the powder-puff, charged with a harmless powder, will have a beautiful effect, the powder being sparingly used, of course. TO SAVE BATH TOWELS. When a bath towel begins to wear cut at the edge, sew a piece of tape on one side of the edge and darn the fraying bath towel to it. The towel will then last quite a long time. Some housekeepers advocate sewing a band of heavy tape along the edge of a bathtowel when it is new, as this gives a firmness and relieves the strain when stretching or rubbing and add's considerably to the respectable life of the towel. WINDOW CLEANING. Windows will look beautifully bright if cleaned with whiting and a damp cloth. Rinse them afterwards with a fresh cloth wrung out of water, and polish with a dry leather. To “dry-clean” a window', rub it with a cloth sprinkled with methylated spirit.
