JUNE 4th SHOOTING. Checking Umpires.—Mr J. Lowe (chairman) and Messrs G. B. Carter (Castlecliff) and Q. Leathcrland (R.S.A.) Range Officers.—W. Hudson (chief) t P. C. Hamilton (deputy). NOTES AND COMMENTS. (By “Aperture ”> Marton and Imlay are knocking at the door. Next week’s shooting will be interesting. * * e “Aperture” has been asked to remind clubs that all shooting must be fired up to date by May Ist. No excuse will be accepted from any club for non-compliance with this stipulation.
Where are the R.S.A. f It wa> stated they would be out last week, hut they have not yet appeared. Perhaps they will shoot to-night.
“Aperture” has read a copy of the rules drawn up to govern individual matches to be fired on June 4. It is pleasing to note that the “B” grade shots are being catered for. If this shoot proves a success members of the association will no doubt be able to look forward to more. The association can now turn out some rattling good shots, and some splendid scoring should be recorded on the R.S.A. range in the coming competitions. With ten clubs competing for the shield, the checking umpires have no light task. Every target is scrutinised carefully, and initialled. It would be fairly safe to predict that moputes will be few and far 'between this year. Uiey Say— * That Nick Carter has a copy of t-ho National Miniature Rifle Association’s rule book, and because of that, is prepared to settle any disputes. That a prominent member of the Herald Club was frightfully keen that a lady should umpire the next Herald shoot. That Secretary Mainwaring, of the Imlay Club, is a stickler for paying capitation up to date and seeing that transfers are put through in the orthodox manner. That the R.S.A. has cabled for two new rifle barrels. That Cecil LovegTove evidently means business in his undertaking tc successfully wind up the R.S.A. Club. P. AND T. CLUB. In the above clnb’s final shoot for Mr Cooper’s gold medal last Thursday evening, the follow r ing scores were recorded. In the aggregate for the best five out of six shoots, Messrs Armstrong and Weller tie for first place and a shoot off to decide will be fired next week. Scores:—
