“I have had to use my imagination since 1 was a very little girl,” said Gladys Walton in commenting on her Universal vehicle, “The Lavender Bath Lady,” which comes to the Grand Theatre next Monday. The theme of the story expresses the value of imagination as a helpful influence in life. “I remember when I was going to school if there was anything i didn’t have that I wanted very much I would imagine I had it and do you know that oftentimes it seemed to aid me in securing that very object. Anyway, it helped a lot to even think I had it. Some of the family used to think I was ‘temperamental’—l pretended so much.” It is difficult to get Gladys Walton io talk about herself, so it is best to keep her going when she has once started. Asked for some examples of what her imaginative powers have done for her, she said: “From the time 1 first rode in an automobile I wanted one. It certainly didn’t, seem likely I would have one of my own, so every time I rode in a street car I imagined it was my Rolls Royce. Then out ert a clear sky I came to Los Angeles from Portland and began my picture work, and the first thing I knew I was driving a car that actually belonged to me.” Imagination has been used since time immemorial by writers, painters, sculptors and actors and has aiden them materially. It has been the guiding force behind many a great achievement.
