DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION

A. E. Fear, Dominion organiser of the Dairy Farmers’ Union, wh» has just finished an organising campaign throughout the Thames Valley and Lower Waikato, reports 27 new branches of the D.F.U. have beenformed in the Thames Valley, where 92 per cent, of the dairy farmers are financial members of the D.F.U. In Lower Waikato, great interest has been taken by the dairy farmers, with the result that on Friday next. May 18th, in the A. and P. Association Buildings, Pukekohe, 40 delegates from 24 branches in Lower Waikato are meeting to form a Provincial Executive, the boundary of the new executive to start from Mangatangi on the east, through to Mercer, and including all districts north and west surrounding Pukekohe, which is to be the centre. Mr. Fear stated that although a hard district to organise, leading farmers in every district have taken a keen interest in the movement and branches with up to 40 members have been signed up. With the formation of the Pukekohe Provincial Executive eight delegates will be elected to go to Palmerston North on May 22nd to a conference of the Dairy Farmers’ Union. This conference will be tho largest meeting of dairy farmers’ representatives ever held in the Dominion. In twelve months thred new provincial eve mtives of the D.F.U. have been for ne t showing the progress of the Dairy Farmers’ Union.
