WAITOTARA WAR MEMORIAL

A largely-attended meeting was held in tho Hall, Waitotara, on Saturday evening last, to consider tho ways and means of raising money towards the above fund.

The chairman, Mr Train, in his opening remarks, fully explained the object of the meeting, and also pointed out why the meeting had been, deferred for so long. He now, however, considered the present was a very opportune time, and he hoped to see the scheme they had in view, viz., the erecting of memorial gates leading into the Waitotara Domain, on the Station Road, carried into effect. The chairman remarked that the committee held a sum of about £lOO towards the fund. A lengthy discussion took place, and it was finally resolved that a canvass be made of the whole district, and circulars be sent out advising people accordingly .

Mr H. Grove was elected secretary. The chairman and secretary were appointed treasurers.
