PICTURES FOR OUR SCHOOLS.

A few weeks ago. five girls gave a dedelightful little entertainment in order to obtain funds to buy a picture fcr

their school. So successful were they that the proceeds enabled them to present the school with two fine pictures dealing with historical subjects. Ore represents “King John Signing ALxgna Charta,” and the other “ Phoenicians Trading with the Britons.” The Avenue school are to be congratulated on having pupils who have the interest of their school so much at heart. Last year, the same children gave another entertainment, which enabled them to make a handsome donation to the school library fund. We would like to report similar happenings in other schools. Alost parents are keenly interested in their children’s school life; it gives them great pleasure to think that the children are getting more than an education in arithmetic, reading, etc.; beautiful pictures have an educational value, that cannot be over-estimated, r.nd any school that surrounds its pupils with artistic pictures, nicely kept ground’s, and other things that make life more beautiful, is a school that the children, as well as the parents, arc proud of.
