The above club caine into existence in June 1921, and since then has made rapid progress. This is partly owing to the untiring efforts of many of the members. The first Pres.dent of the Club was Mr Whitehorn, who has since been transferred to Palmerston North. Mr Aller was then elected in his place and has held, the position up till now, but owing to his leaving New Zealand, the club will lose h,s services for the future. A first-class pavilion has also been erected, and 15 0 ornamental trees planted. The courts were thrown open for play on the 3rd December, the opening ceremony being performed by Mr J. Anderson. Members, especially the ladies, attended regularly for practise, and at the end of the season, many had developed into really good players. Tea on Saturday afternoons was provided by the ladies, and was much appreciated. To raise funds, euchre parties, dances, garden parties and a street, stall, also concerts were held and these were the means of supplimenting the club’s revenue to the extent of £l2B 14s 3d. Th club’s thanks are due to the Queen Alexandra Band, the concert artists. and all those who so ably assisted in the above functions.

During the year, Messrs S. Powdrell and Whitehorn were elected life lembers. In conclusion, the thanks of the Club are due to all the officers who have assisted during the season to further its success, special mention being made of Mr J. Anderson and his sons for the great amount of work performed by them in the club’s interests.
