BOXING.
NEXT SATURDAY’S TOURNEY. i The programme to be provided by the Wanganui Amateur Boxing Assotiaiion on Saturday evening next, promises to be a very attractive one. The chief event will be the meeting of those two clever lightweights, Geo. Pringle and Jimmy Carr, who ■ should give a good display. Pringle has a very fine record to i his credit, and surprise lias been expressed by Napier writers that the Association over there has not given him more chances. Jimmy Carr is a good lad. and his defeat of Biddulph. an ex-champion of Tasmania, stamps him as being very < lose to the top of his class. It is sure to be a good, clean fight. i Tho amateur bouts will be parti- . cularly interesting, as they will include clashes between such wellknown performers as Mills, of El- ■ tham, and Jack Moore (heavyweights), Tommy Quirke and Jack i Lockett, and Geo. Perry and a remarkably promising lad from the south. The Rhimes’ Belt will again be competed for. The Technical Col--1 lege Company at present hold it, and | No. 61 Company have nominated a j lightweight by the name of Hender- , son. who means to hand the belt | over to 61 Company for safe keeping. It is understood the Technicals have P’cked Morton to defend their company; if this is so. this will be a good fight, because Morton is good. It will be seen from the above that 1 the amateur bouts will of themselves provide a splendid evening’s enter- ! rainment, quite apart from the pro- : fessional contest, which is sure to be a very fine one.
