AMERICAN FUNDS. I TO BE KEPT OUT OF DE VALERA’S HANDS. Received August 22, 10.10 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 21. Timothy Smiddy, representing Michael Collins, obtained a Supreme Court injunction restraining the De Valera faction from obtaining 2,30*0.000 dollars, representing moneys obtained from Irish sympathisers in the United States on bonds issued by the Irish Republic. Smiddy contended the Irish Free State is the free Ireland for which Irishmen have been fighting, and is entitled to the funds, although the latter was raised on bonds of the Republic. He asserted that if De Valera obtained the funds a further rebellion against the present Irish Government, would result, and needless bloodshed continue. The view of the majority of people in Ireland favours the English treaty. Legal possession of the funds is invested in three trustees — De Valera, Fogarty, and O’Mara. I'ogarty (Mayor of Limerick) alone in an adherent of the Irish Free State. Settlement of the dispute will be submitted to local courst.
