MARTON NOTES.

RANGITIKEI RUGBY SUB-UNION. (From Our Own Correspondent) The management committee of the above Union met on Thursday evening, there being present:—Messrs. A. Way (chairman), J. Raymond, A. Rhodes, L. Hammond, C. E. Gib. bons, T. Marshall, J_ T. Brady S. Hunt (secretary)'. Hunterville Club wrote withdrawing from the Junior Competition, which was accepted with regret. A request was received from’ the Oroua Su.b-Union asking for a game at was decided that It whs impossible to make the trip this season, as the Rangitikei Union had a "full book.” The Wanganui Rugby Union wrote suggesting Saturday, AugusT 13th, for the Third Class representative match at Martan, which was agreed to On August sth, the senior and junior representative teams from Wanganui will play at Marton, the Juniors as a curtain-raiser at 1.30 o’clock, and the seniors at 3 p.m.

Taihape Union wrote agreeing' to play the representative match for the Pownall trophy, at Taihape, on July 29th. Mr J, T Brady was appointed manager. ’

Owing to the Bailey seven.a-sjde senior tournament, at Bulls, on Saturday, August 22nd. all matches have been abandoned for that day. Entries for the tournament close op Wednesday next with Mr T Smith, secretary Rangitikei Football Club, Bulls. The Rangitikei-Taihape Junior representative match will be played at Hunterville, on Saturday, August 26th.

The matter of a representative match with Ruapehu, at Raetihi, was held over pending the result of the Pownall trophy match, also a match for the Maori Shield with Taihape Maoris. The probable dtfte for the Maori match will be Saturday, August 12th.

The Marton Hockey Club were granted the use of the footbail ground for a representative match with Wanganui on August 22nd. Rata Football Club were granted permission to challenge for the McKee Cup, at Wanganui. The Third Class seven.a-side tournament will be held at Turakina on Wednesday, August 16th, and the Junior seven-a-side tournament at Marton on Saturday, July 29th Seven gold medals have been donated for the junior competition. Mr C. Sutcliffe was appointed referee for the Rangitikei-Wairoa Maori match, at Marton, to-day (Saturday).

A request frt>m Marton Football Club for share of gate money in a curtain-raiser was referred till end or the season.

R, Kreegher was aidded to Halcombe’s list, J. Hiroti to Bulls list of players and F. Heise to Rate's list. The chairman stated that it was possible that the Poneke senior team would visit Marton before the end of the season.

Ngapaki. Emergencies: J. Warnau, K. Marino, Stephen. This team will play in black jerseys, and cars leave Waitotara at 9.30 a.m., arriving at Marton ait 12 o’clock. The following is the. Rangitikei team:—Full-back: Terry (Kata); Three-quarters: Tau Paranihi I Tokorangi ), N. Kane (Tokorangi), H. Kingi (Rata); Five-eighths: G. Hartley and J. Hartley (Ratal. Half-back: Rawakore (Rata).
