President Harding, addressing the Budget bureau, emphasised the need for economy and the necessity to keep the Budget within estimated revenue, which for 1924 is 3108 million dollars. The President said: “Our country is one of the few in the world which is now paying its way as it goes, and I must regard with disfavour any tendencies to interfere with this condition, or to increase taxes.”
