AUSTRALIA’S D’AVIS CUP TEAM. Received April 16, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY. April 15. In an exhibition match by the Davis Cup representatives, play was very keen. Patterson and Anderson were both in great form. Critics augur from the coutests that Australia’s chances in the cup are good. Patterson beat Anderson 4—6, 6—4, 6—4, 3—6, 7—5. A doubles, Anderson and Patterson v. Thomas and Sicler resulted 2—6, 6—4, (unfinished.) THE NATIVE TOURNAMENT. The tournament under the auspices of the Native Lawn Tennis Association, which is being held on the Gonville oourts, is proving very successful. Entries are very large, and competition particularly keen. On account of wet weather a start was not made till noon on Saturday, when the teams’ match took place. Thirteen teams competed, six coming from the Hawke's Bay district and seven from between Wanganui and Horowhenua. The finals will be played to-day, commencing at 9 a.ra. So far Wanganui A team is leading’ with Hastings second. 'Hie championships will be played to-day, to-morrow and Wednesday—in fact, the tournament is on such a large scale, that in all probability it will last till Thursday.
