PLUNKET SOCIETY.
The usual monthly meeting was held ou Tuesday last at the Stewart Karitune Home. Present; Mesdames Hope Gibbons (in the chair), G. Currie W. Stewart, O. Hales, G. Harper, Hine and .McLeod. Al>ologies were received from Mesdarues Earle, J. Stevenson, Crawford, Addenbrooke, R. Stevenson, and Neame.
The nurses reported 628 visits tc headquarters, 182 to Wanganui, and 120 to Castleclifl. Visits to homes, 367, old cases; new cases 57; total 424. New babies and others. 73. The committee decided to have a collection in aid of the district funds early in September, the date to be well advertised, so as not to clash with any other collection. New Members. —Mesdames Howie and Norihover were elected.
The committee wish to thank the following ladies: Mesdames Aves, Milford, Lund, 3. Stevenson, Bartlett, and Sallume for parcels of clothes, etc.; Mesdanicr. Hammond (Hunterville) and Gibland lor cash donations, and Mrs McLeod for needlework.
The matron of .he Stewart Home reported that eight babies and one mother were admitted during the month Six babies were discharged, leaving eight babies and one mother in hospital. The highest number at one time was eleven babies and one mother. The eager are all progressing satisfactorily Nurses Knight' and Meehan are a. present on sick leave. Miss Mildred Gardiner entered the hospital for training. The matron wishes to thank Mesdames H. Gibbons and Rhodes for vegetables, Mrs Wickham for fruit, Mr Martin for cradle and stand.
