164 VESSELS RAIDED. MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF FURNISHINGS STOLEN. Received March 28, 12.20 a.m. NEW YORK, March 27. The murder of a watchman diselosed the fact that 164 United State’s Shipping Board vessels anchored in the Hudson River, near New York, owing to lack of •freights, have been raided and furnishings removed, valued at nearly a million dollars. The operations were conducted during the winter, when the river was frozen. The loot was carried over the ice. More than five hundred men composed skeleton crew’s, who were supposed to be guarding the vessels. It is believed these co-operated with the thieves.
