GOLF.

TARANAKI EASTER TOURNAMENT.

One of the most popular golfing tournaments in the Dominion is undoubtedly that conducted during the Easter holidays by the New Plymouth Golf Club, of which Mr W. Weston, well-known in golf circles here, is club captain. This tourney is the Taranaki championship meeting a.nd handicap tournament, which is to be held on April 15th, 17th and 18th, and for which entries are to close on April 10th. An attractive programme has been drawn up, and the prospects are for large entries. The principal event is, of course, the Taranaki Amateur Championship, to commence at A a.m. on Easter Saturday, the fourth round to be played on Tuesday forenoon and the final in the afternoon. Combined with the qualifying rounds on the opening day, a team’s match will be played, teams to comprise four players and to be nominated before starting iff the morning. In addition, other matches will be played. including a continuous putting competition.

WANGANUI LADIES’ GOLF. CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club was held in Duigan’s Rooms on Wednesday. Miss Harper (captain) presided over a well attended meeting ot memoers. Before proceeding with the business tile chairwoman spoke on the loss the club had sustained through the death of the president (Mrs Rayney Jackson), and a resolution of sympathy was passed. The r'bport and balance sheet for the season 1921 was adopted. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs Neame; captain, Mrs Russell Grace; secretary, Miss Newcombe; treasurer, Miss Harper; committee, Mesdames Smith, von Haast, and Misses Darley and Hatrick. Two notices ot motion were discussed;— (1) That the Wanganui Club come into line with other clubs of New Zealand having silver medallists (handicap up to 20) and bronze medallist (handicap up to 36), dispensing with the juniors as at present; and (2) That in future ballot papers shall be sent to members fourths election of each new member. Both these motions were carried.

The opening day was left in the hands of the committee. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the officials of the past season, and to the chairwoman.
