RITUAL SHIELD CONTEST AT MARTON. The officers and several members of Bishop Lodge and Aramoho Lodges of Druids journeyed to Marton on Tuesday evening to contest the Bradley Ritual Shield with Morgan Lodge, Marton. Great interest in the contest was manifested iu the three lodges, inasmuch that Morgan Lodge had not. put in a team for several years. Owing to a misunderstanding over the date of contest, Morgan Lodge came to Wanganui last week to contest the shield, and .to keep the Interest, alive and in a manner repay the Morgan Lodge for their fruitless journey, the local lodge decided to change the venue of contest to Marton. On arrival at the Lodge room, the visitors received a boisterous welcome from a large gathering of Druids who had assembled to witness the proceedings. The judges selected were: D.P. Bro. Walker. No 22 District; P.D.P. Bro. C. Pearce, No. 4 District; P.A. Bro. W. Gordon, aud P.A. Bro. R. W. Smith (Bishop Lodge); P.A. Bro. B. R. Pitt of Bishop Lodge was M. for the local lodges and P.A, Bro. Miles acted for Morgan Ix>dge. Bro. O. Kitson, presided at the piano. The following comprised the teams: Morgan Lodge.—A.D., S. Abbott: V.A., K. Steer; J.P.A., W. Vincent: Secretary, E. Wing: A.D.8.. J. Greaves and C. Horn: W.A.8.. Davies and F. Martin; 1.G.. P. O'Shaughnessy: 0.G.. L. Gronn. Bishop Lodge.- A.D.. Olsen; V.A.. G. Bennett: J.P.A., P. Hucksitep; Secretary, F. Glenny (tn absence of Bro Sharpe); A.D.8.. G. Larkin and A. E. Edwards; V.A.8.. 11, Reardon and A. Cox: J.G.. A. J. O'Keefe; 0.G.. G. Mcllwain. Aramoho Lodge.—A.D.. E. Norman: V.A., W. Gregg; J.P.A., W. Greenless; secretary, W. F. Hanton; AD. J. Catanaeh and F.' T. Ansell; V.A.8., Bissen and G. Newson: J.G..C. Couchman: 0.G., F Phillips. Bishop Lodge were the first to face the judges, followed by Aramoho and Morgan Lodges. Each lodge gave a good rendering. At the conclusion the judges gave the following result:—Bishop Lodge, words 498, combination 87, elocution S 3; total of 668 points. Aramoho Lodge: words 490; combination 89, elocution, 89; total 668. Morgan Lodge: words 4CIJ, combination 95, elocution 89: total, 6454 points. This is the first occasion in which teams have tied, and the local lodges may decide to test who is to be the holder for the next six months. Officers of Mackay Lodge, Taihape, Bro. O'Sullivan (D.P. elect), P.A. Bro. Jeffrey; J.P.A., Bro. Hartley, V.A. Bro. Gillies, and A.D.B. Bro. Grayling—were present to get an insight of procedure In view of entering a team at next contest. The visitors were hospitably entertained to supper by the Morgan Lodge and the usual toasts were duly honoured.
