COMMERCIAL. ADDINGTON STOCK REPORT. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. At Addingtuj Market the yardings were again large although smaller than last week. Store ewes met with a keen sale and forward lambs were also in active demand. Fat lambs recovered last week’s easing. Beef was firmer and fat sheep were practically unchanged. Store sheep. —A heavy yarding, the bulk ewes, a proportion from distant parts of the Island. Demand particularly for good ewes was remarkably keen. The clearance was practically complete—forward rape lambs 15/- to 17/8, good 13/ to 14/6, medium 10/- to 12/6, small 7/9 to 9/9, culled 5/4 to 7/6, extra good 2-th. half bred ewe.: 30/3, good 4 and 6-th 18/6 to 21/-, ordinary 4, 6 and 8-th 16/7 to 18/-, good 6 and 8-th. 22/3 to 24/10, ordinary 6 and 8-tooth 15/- to 17/6, low conditioned inferior 4, 6 and S-th 9/6 to 13/9, infesrior two-tocth ewes 11/6 to 14/, rape 6/10 to 9/6, cull 3/3 to 5/9, 4 and 6-th werhers to 16/6, fair 4 and 6-th 11/9 to 14/3, inferior 9/3 to 11/3, good 2-th 13/7. Fat lambs 4 550 were penned compared with 50 30 last week, a free sale and appreciation in values resulted in a totil clearance at an average price of 6i’d to 7d per lb, extra prime lambs 23/- to 25/-, prime 19/9 to 22/6, medium 17/G to 19/6, light unfinished 14/ to 17/3. Fat sheep—Eleven racae compared with 13 last week. Sales were somewhat irregular and for all but very prime wethers scarcely as keen. Extra prime wethers 25/- to 33/6, prime 19/6 to 22/6, medium 17/6 to 19/3, lightjr 16/- to 17/3. prime ewes 15/9 to 19/, medium 13/3 to 15/6, light 9/- to 13/-. Fat cattle.—3l7 penned, a brisker sale for prime beef which sold 30/- I to 32/6 per 190 lbs, secondary down to 20/-, extra prime steers to £l6 12s 6d, prime £ll to £l4/17/6, medium £B/5/ to £lO/12/6, inferior £6 to £B, extra prime heifers £ll/5/, prime £6/5/ io £B/17/6. ordinary £4/5/6, prime cows £5/15/ to £7/15/, ordinary £3/15/ to £5/1-/. Vealers. —Calves fit for butchering in short supply and showed a short advance in price, runners £6, good vealers £3/12 to £4/5/. medium £2 to £2/5/, sma’l colves £3 upwards. Store Cattle. —A small yarding, mostly nondescript lots. Fair demand. Eighteen months heifers £3/10/, good 2-year old to £4, two and a half-year old steers £3/15/, two year old £3/2/6, yeailing £2 to £3/1/. Dairy Cattle. —A fairly large yarding. Last week’s prices were maintained. Good second 3rd calves £8 to £l2, ordinary £4 to £7/10/, good springing heifers £l3, ordinary £7/10/, good springing heifers £l3, ordinary £7/10/ to £ll, aged inferior cows £l/10/ to £4. Fat Pigs.—A big entry. Prices about equal to last week’s. Choppers £2/10/ to £5,17/6, light baconers £3/5/ to £3/10/, heavy £3/15/ to £4/10/, extra heavy to £5, average price per lb. 6id. Light porkers 45/ to 50/, heavy 55/ to 60/, average price per lb. 8d to Bld. Store Pigs.—A big yarding. Values fell again substantially. Good sows in pig £4, good stores 30/- to 42/, medium 21/- ro 23/-, good weaners 10/-, small 3/- to 6/-. BURNSIDE STOCK SALES. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 15 Large yardings of fat stock were offered at Burnside to-day. The quality was fairly good with the .exception of the sheep which were much below the standard of late offerings. They were higher in value. Pigs were Isold at .prices about the same as last week but fat cattle and lambs were much easier in tone. Fat. Cattle. A large yarding of good qauilty, numbering 247 head. The sales opened somewhat weak which was evidently due to the over supply and at the close of the day s operations competition became more weak and lower prices had to be accepted in order to effect a sale. Prime ox beef, worth 22/ and 23/ 1001 b., cow beef and inferior ox about 20/. Prime bullocks realised from £lO 10/ to £l2, medium £8 10/ to £lO. light and unfinished sorts from £7 upwards. Prime heifers realised from £7 10/ to £8 5/, medium £6 to £7, light and aged from I £4 10/ upwards. Sheep.—A medium yarding numbering 2352 head. The quality was the poorest seen at Burnside sales I for a long time, the yarding consisting mostly of second grade ewes. The demand was brisk, good quality shep eliciting keen competition and the closing sale of day was dearer than the opening one. Wethers advanced 2/6 and fat ewes from 1/6 to 2/ a head above last week’s rates 1 . Prime mutton averaged from 3id to 3%d, extra prime heavy weight wethers 29/9, prime 23/ to 27/9, medium 10/ to 22/6, light and unfinished kinds from 16/ upwards, prime ewes from 19/6 to 23/6, medium 15/ to 18/, light and aged from 12/ upwards. Lambs.—A good yarding numbering 1239 head of fair quality. On account of the larger supply prices were a shade easier compared with those which ruled last week, values being down about a shilling a head. Values varied from 15/ to 23/9 a bead which is equal to about Gid per lb. Store Cattle.—A full yarding was offered, the bulk of which comprised of young and backward conditioned animals. This class and also half fat ewes were difficult to sell even at every low prices. A number of three year old forward steers wltn good breeding realised up to £6. Pigs.—A large yarding, all classes being well represented. At the : opening of the sales it was expected that values would be easier owing to large offerings and this proved to be the case, prices declining from I I 5/ to 10/ a head. Best baconers 1 realised up to 7d and porkers up 7%d lb.

NEWTON KING LTD., REPORTS. At Stratford on 7th inst. both sheep and cattle were penned in good numbers and practically everything sold. The demand was steady in fact extra keen at times, especially for weaner heifers, very good sales being reported for this class. 2-th wethers 14/4, lambs 5/3, 5/6, 5/9, 7/-; full mouth ewes 5/3, 7/8; fat do. 12/1; store cows 17/- 26/-; fat do. Dfi/8/, £l-9/; 20-month steers 33/-, 44/-; w< aner heifers 36/-, £2/5/; Jersey do. £3/1, £3/10/; in calf heifers £2/7/6. £3/IQ/; dairy cows £6, £7; boner bulls realised up to £2/15/-. At Inglewood on Sth March we report a full yarding and satisfactory clearance. Oa the day sheep and young cattle created most enquiry. Late values were fully maintained throughout. Fat ewes 12/4, breeding ewes li>/6, 12/, 13/6. 14/-; lambs 4/8, 5/-, 6/6; forward do. 9/9, 10/6; store cows 24/-, 38/-; light fat do. £2/12/6, £3/10/; 20month steers 33/-, 37/6; w’eaner heifers 20/-, .’7/6; Jersey strain £2, £2/18/6; in calf heifers £5/15/, £6/10/; enip v do. £2/17/6, boner bulls 20/-, £2/10/.
