SWIMMING.

GONVILLE CLUB. ROSE BOWL. The first distance for the above trophy was got off last evening in the presence of a good number of spectators, and some good swimming eventuated. The races were swum in a steady shower of rain. Officials: Starter, A. Grubb; judges, Messrs McKay and Powell; timekeeper Mr G. Young. First beat: M. Norris 1, S. Marsden 2, C. Rosser 3. Time, 88secs. Second heat: N. Dowsett 1, A. Tilley 2. E. Bridges 3. Time, 72secs. Final: S. Norris 1, N. Dowsett 2. S. Marsden 3. Time, 86secs. Marsden and Dowsett turned together, and in a good finish Norris won by a touch. Following are the handicaps for the 150 yards, to be swum this evening at 5.30: —Dowsett scr., Tilley 4secs., Nor. ris, Marsden and Rosser 12, Tyler and White 15. Bridges 17 McKay 23, Lowe 25, Matson 31.
