A MOTORIST CHARGED. (Per Press Assoc iation.) HASTINGS, Nov. 11. At the inquest on a child namefl Allen, aged 6J, killed by being struck by a motor car on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 2nd, the police handed in a statement by Morgan Davies, a farmer residing in Napier, stating that he had a considerable amount of liquor before leaving Napier. He wished to make a voluntary statement of what, he remembered while driving to Hastings. A charge of manslaughter was laid and he was remanded to Napier on Monday, 14th. Bail of £5OO, in two sureties of £250 was granted. Davies is a married man with four children and in good circumstances. The affair caused great interest in the district.
