TENNIS TOURNAMENT. WANGANUI CLUB COURTS. All tennis players in Wanganui are reminded that they have been invited by advertisement, to attend a plain and faaicy dress Yankee tournament to be held on the Wanganui Club’s Courts this afternoon. AH players will be handicapped, and will play six matches, combined doubles, each match being with different partners and agajjast different opponents. Come in fancy dress, it will save vou one shilling. A, small entrance fee will be made for afternoon tea, and entrance fee, the proceeds being in aid of the Tennis. Croquet Queen Carnival Candidate. The Queen, Miss McKinnon, will be in attendance, and will present the prizes to the victors.

W’ith’the picturesque Wanganui Club Courts as a setting and with the players in varied dress an colour, the scene should resemble a May Day Fair. Players intending to participate should be on the courts at 2.30. There will be plenty of accommodation for onlookers. GONVILLE CLUB. The game is booming at the Gon. Ville Courts. At a committee meet, in.g held on Thursday night no less than 20 new members were elected. In spite of the inclement weather the laying down of the new courts is proceeding satisfactorily. When completed it is expected that these courts will te second to none in the Dominion. The founda. tion consists of clay and asphalt and the top dressing will be a mixture of very fine sand, sawdust and tar. A tournament to further the can. didature of the Tennis Queen is to eventuate this afternoon, commenc. ing at 2 o’clock, when a large attendance is assurred. The entrance fee is 2/6 for players and 1/ for non.players. Afternoon tea will be provided.
