OBITUARY.
Received 1 a.m. August 17. LONDON, August 17. The King of Serbia. The late kingj Peter Karageorgevitchl, who succeeded Alexander I on the murder of the latter, June 11, 1903 was born in 1844, and was a grandson of George Czzerny, summed Karageorge or Black George, who was the first chief of the Serbian insurrection against the Turks in the beginning of the last century. He was joined by Milosch, who added to his name that of his mother, Obrens. These two chiefs founded the rival families of Karageorgevitch and Obrenovitch. On the assassination of Alexander I, together with his consort. Queen Draga, King Peter was invited to the throne. King Peter married in 1883 a daughter of the Prince of Montenegro, Princess Zorka, who died in 1890. He had two sons (Prince George, born 1887, Prince Alexander, G.C.8., born 1888), a daughter (Princess Helene, born 1884), and a brother, Prince 1 Arsenius. In 1909 Prince George voluntarily renounced his rights to •he succession, and his brother frlnce Alexander was recognised as heir to the throne. •
