AIR RACING.
CAMBRIDGE DEFEATS OXFORD. Received July 17, 11,15 p.m. LONDON, July 16. The first inter-University air race between Oxford and Cambridge, with three machines aside of similar type, preceded the aerial Derby at Hendon, over a course of 120 miles. Cambridge won. All the competitors were erstwhile war pilots. Seven Derby entrants out of nineteen scratched. Mars 1., with a 450 horsepower Napier-Lion engine, piloted by J. H. James, won In the fastest time over a 200-mile course, and also won the first handicap prize. Lieutenant Longton, of the Australian Flying Corps, piloting a 5.C.5 220 horsepower Wolhely-Viper, won the second handicau prize of £lOO.
