THE NEAR EAST.
KEMAL’S ARMY GREATLY STRENGTHENED. BERLIN, June 15. Von Sanders, in an article in the Vosslche. Zeitung, estimates that Kemal’s army at Angora aggregates <OO,OOO, and is continually growing. Thcj artillery has largely been in. creased by French guns captured by Soviet armies from Generals Denikin and Wiangel, which have reached Anatolia. The Nationalists hope to establish a sort of United States of Islam with Tunkey as the leader. It is unbelieveable that England can think It possible to aid Greece and end Kemal’s empire. Kemal has protected himself by establishing a group of commands (against a Black Sea landing, and the memory of Gallipoli is not calculated to encourage a similar attempt, and a seh. blockade would be useless.
