TRAMWAY FARES.
INCREASED FROM TO-DAY. From to-day (Friday) the tramway fares within the Borough will be increased,' the new rates being: One section, 2d; two sections, 3d; three or four sections, 4d. Concession tickets are now available, each containmg 12 adults’ rides or 24 childrens’ rides, and will be issued at the following rates:—Over first section, 1/6; over first and second sections, 2/3; over first, second, and th.rd sections, 3/; over first, second, third, and fourth sections, 3/9. GONVILLE RATES. Some misunderstanding seems to exist with regard to the fares to be charged Gonvllle passengers. Gonville and Castlecliff residents will be relieved to learn that they will not be called upon to pay higher fares than they are paying now. The fares to and from Castlecliff will remain as at present and for passengers travelling over portion of the Borough line; say, for instance, passengers joining the car at Gonville or King’s Avenues will pay the same fare as hitherto, 2d This is because the agreement between the Council and the Tramway Board provides that the Council should carry Gonville passengers at certain rates, and the Board’s refusal to increase the fares. As the line along Heads Road, from the penny section to the Hospital corner is affected by the agreement, the fare from the latter stop will remain as at present. So far as residents at the Gonville end of the town are concerned, the increase in fares means only the abolishment of the Id section. A special ticket is to be issued to casual passengers on the Gonville route.
