WANGANUI GIRLS’ COLLEGE.
FIRST ANNUAL ATHLETIC SPORTS. The inaugural annual athletic sports in connection with the Wanganui Girls . College were held on Saturday afternoon. Great interest was evinced in the various events, and from an athletic point of view some of the performances were distinctly creditable, the jumping being particularly good. Senior Long Jump.—M. Metcalfe (13ft 51n) 1, G. Calver (12ft 9in) 2, M. Calver (12ft Sin) 3. Junior Long Jump.—P. Heatherington <l2ft) 1, K. Zeisler 2. Potato Race.—R. Harrison 1, J. Campbell 2. z Catch the Tram Race.—M. McKelvie 1, J. Purdie 2. 100 Yards Junior Race—K. Barry I, T. Mclntyre 2. Three-legged Race.—K. Carlson and V. Johns 1, E. Murray and K. Barry 2. Junior Walk.—D. In the evening a successful entertainment was held at the College Assembly Hall.
