EXCITING TIME IN A TOWN HALL. REVOLVER DUEL RESULTS IN BOMB EXPLOSION. M.P. HOIST BY HIS OWN PETARD. Received Nov. 7, 5.5 p.m. ROME, Nov. 6. Milan reports an astonishing affair during victory day rejoicings In Verona. Several hundred young Nationalists, armed with revolvers, inarched to the town hall to haul down the Socialist flag. They were met by a Socialist mob, who also were armed. Firing commenced and several were wounded on both sides. The affray ended by a bomb exploding in the pocket of Scarabello, who was a member of Parliament, killing him and injuring several others, and wrecking a neighbouring building. Waste paper baskets in the Town Hall were later found filled with explosives.
