BOXING.
“ s JANESSE v. GUNN. Jack Jannesse, ex-bantam champion of Australia, who is to meet H. Gunn, the N.Z. champion, in the Opera House on Friday next, is in hard training, and ■ from all appearances will be at the top of his form w*hen he steps into the ring with the New Zealand champion. H. Gunn is a very clever boxer, his re- ; cent victory over C. Cann demonstrated < that fact, and the Timaru lad is expected by his many supporters to put up a - great battle against the Australian. 1 From what has been seen of Jannesse he appears to be one of tiie very best men of his weight now in the game, and his clash with Gunn ought to provide : one of the most interesting contests . ever staged in Wanganui. It is to be hoped the local Association will receive ' the support it deserves for arranging a match which promises to be so excit- 1 ing and to provide some remarkably clever boxing.
